Born 1969, lives in Frankfurt am Main, Germany
Henning Engelke is an academic staff member at the Art History Department
of the Johann-Wolfgang-von-Goethe-University in Frankfurt am Main.
After studying Art History, Ethnology and Sociology in Göttingen,
he worked as curator at the German Film Museum in Frankfurt. From 2003 to 2005, he assisted at
the Art History Department at Frankfurt University,
finishing his dissertation on "Documentary Film and Photography:
Visual Strategies in the English speaking Ethnology 1936-1986" (Gebr. Mann publisher, Berlin) in 2005.
Engelke was awarded a travel grant to the United States by the Federal State of Lower Saxony in Germany
and is currently researching spatial concepts in the avant-garde film.
